Using paper as an initial starting point, artists Adonna Khare and Hacer, take us back to childhood. Hacer, brilliantly morphs oversized brightly colored origami animals into impressive metal sculptures and Adonna imaginatively draws princess chimpanzees, elk-eating sharks and pool playing tigers and zebras that are stand-ins for life experiences. A castle-bearing elephant may playfully symbolize carrying the weight of the world around or a shark trying to eat an elk with trees for horns could signify feeling like a fish out of water. The absurdities of life are captured eloquently in Adonna's work. To see more work Click Here

Adonna was awarded the $200,000 Art Prize in 2012, which allowed her to return to art full time. Her work can be found in many museums and private collections including Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, AK.

A WORK OF ART IS NOTHING

Galleri Andersson/Sandström is proud to present for the first time a solo exhibition by Jan Håfström; one of Sweden's most significant artists. The exhibition A WORK OF ART IS NOTHING consists of new works where the mysterious Mr. Walker encounters the contemporary art world, or exists in environments with clear links to literature or art history. The fictional Mr. Walker is a frequent and recurring character in Håfström's oeuvres, in both paintings as well as in sculptures.

You are warmly invited to GRUND, an extensive exhibition of painting and sculpture by Stefan Schiek. Figurative and abstract works develop an aesthetic, formal picture of the artist’s reductive practice.

Berlin Collectors is an initiative by Berlin-based private art collections of contemporary art.

The initiative has its own communal web presence: berlincollectors.com. The website provides an overview of and insight into the various individual collections in Berlin which are open to the general public. The joint initiative is the result of civic engagement and is characteristic of Berlin in that it is open and individual. Which other city gives visitors the opportunity to see this many different private art collections?

The initiative also provides the impetus to stage collaborative events such as the current exhibition at abc art berlin contemporary. At me Collectors Room Berlin, a reference library is accessible all year round to anyone interested in gaining a closer insight into the various collections involved in the Berlin Collectors initiative. Further joint events are planned.
