Apart from the current situation, another thing which actually bothers all the cricket fans is the cancellation of Indian Premier League as it was supposed to be the way of former India captain MS Dhoni’s return to the circuit. IPL currently stands suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak across the globe.

MS Dhoni last featured in the World Cup 2019 semi-final against New Zealand where India lost and since then he has been out of the game. It was believed that Dhoni's performance in the IPL would decide if he can be a part of India's WT20 squad or not. But cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has a different view on that. He said that he believes it's a huge misconception people had about Dhoni's return to the Indian team that it is based on his performance in the 2020 IPL.

"It's a huge misconception that Dhoni's comeback to the Indian team was dependent on his performance in the IPL," Chopra said. "If that is how we will view Dhoni as a player and his career and what he has achieved as a player, then I think we are just knocking at the wrong door because it's not right."

The former India opener also feels that if MS Dhoni wants to play again and if the team management wants, it will happen for sure.

"See, if the team wants him to play, all that will happen. But if the IPL doesn't take place this year, the T20 World Cup doesn't happen this year, of course he will be a year older and with him out of the cricket for more than 18 months, you can assume that you might not see him play again for India," he shared.

The former India batsman, further claimed that looking at the current situation, it is difficult to organize the T20 World Cup in October-November in Australia. Meanwhile, this can open a window for the 13th edition of IPL and the tournament can be played even behind closed doors too.
