  • So you are new to gravel biking and finding it hard to tread through the uneven paths. For sure, efficient and fast biking on gravel is an art and it doesn’t matter whether you own a Birdy Rohloff bike or some other branded regular bike, you will need some expert help to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips and tricks that may help in this context:

    ●    Focus on Selection of Tyres: For a lot of people, gravel biking is similar to road biking but that depends on territory you are in. if you are in England, you may pass all gravelled paths on slick tires but if you are in Australia or Arkansas, you will need special tires as the gravel in these parts  is loose, sharp, chunky, and unpaved. For such paths, you will need skinner, faster, and low-profile tires. If the gravel is smooth and finely textured, you will need 28mm slick tire options but if it is gnarly and coarse, you need to look for 30mm knobby tires that provide flat protection and better cornering grip.

    ●    Bring down the pressure in tires: Low tire pressure can be very helpful in treading through coarse gravel as it offers additional confidence and traction as you descend or climb on gravelled paths. You may also want to consider tubeless tires or wheels and then work with low pressure along with that. Tire pressure mainly depends on riders’ terrain and weight so ideally you need to begin with 35PSI and then get the work the figures down from there onwards.

    ●    Ensure to have the right bars for comfortable descend along gravelled paths: Wider bars that flare outwards may be an excellent option as they offer better aerodynamics. As you descend on the path below, you will need bars that offer comfort, stability, and confidence as for many going down on bike may be an intimidatin experience initially. It should allow you to reach for the brakes smoothly otherwise, if one thing goes wrong it may give you a panic attack and make things worse.
