  • Madden 21 came out just over a month ago and especially for newcomers, the football simulation can once again be a bit sly. To minimize the frustration at the beginning, I would like to give you a few tips to improve your game.

Controls a linebacker OR a safety

While the previous parts were best in defense when you controlled a (middle) linebacker, it's also advisable to take a safety in Madden 21 Coins. With a new skill value called Change of Direction, it's especially difficult for linebackers to make quick changes to the roster, as that value is significantly affected by the player's size and weight. Massive linebackers have correspondingly lower values and can be controlled more cumbersomely. Therefore, it can sometimes be beneficial to control a safety instead in order to intercept passes and to be able to run routes better.

Pay attention to the personnel of the opponent

Personnel is the "positioning" of the opposing offense, i.e. how many running backs (RB), tight ends (TE) and wide receivers (WR) the move is executed. You count the running backs and tight ends, which results in the number of WRs – in total there must be 5 players. For example, 12 Personnel means that there are 1 RB, 2 TEs and 2 WRs on the field. You can see the opponent's personnel in the bottom corner when selecting your defensive turn. Personnel that have fewer than 3 wide receivers (e.B. 12, 13, 21) are more likely to assume that the opponent is running and going into a 3-4 or 4-3 defense, while with 3 or more WRs you should go to a nickel formation (a cornerback instead of a linebacker). Use this tips can help you save MUT Coins for top rated players.

For skill moves, use the stick instead of the buttons

Although it is easier to perform skillmoves in the offense with the keys, for some tricks it is better to use the right analog stick for it. This is the simple reason that the moves can be lined up without interrupting the animation for a short moment. This makes it easier to execute a spin and a juke move in a "flow" .B, making it much more effective.

Does not immediately press R2/RT for runplays

The temptation is of course great to hold on to running moves immediately after the ball is handed over R2/RT, i.e. race. But that makes you hit in the backfield a lot more often than you love, and that's because your O-Line and Tight Ends can't really block yet if you lose immediately after handover. So you kind of run past your foreblocker and the D-Line/linebacker eats you up. So be patient and run only when you've really discovered a gap opened by your O-Line.

    Watch out for your matchups

Before you or your opponent snaps the ball, hold L2/LT and watch the matchups of your receiver/defense. When you switch to the individual players with the right stick, you can see with four stats how big the chances of a successful action are. A distinction is made between Speed, Height, RT Run (Route Running) and Release." Speed and height should be self-explanatory. With fast players you have an advantage, the longer the route goes and the receiver can detach from the cornerback based on his speed, at Height you can throw high balls so that the receiver gets to the ball first. RT Run is especially useful for timing passes, because you can see how well a receiver can run its predetermined route and also adheres to it. Release indicates how quickly a pass recipient can detach from the opponent shortly after the snap, hence the word "start in", because it does not only mean entry.
